School Improvement Updates

2008-09 Documents Now Online

The Department of Education requires all schools to be in a state of "continuous improvement". What does that mean for the Anamosa Community School District?

For starters, it means that a Comprehensive School Improvement Plan, commonly referred to as the CSIP, must be written and updated on an annual basis. This plan provides answers to the following four questions: What does data tell us about our student learning needs? What do/will we do to meet student learning needs? How do/will we know student learning has changed? How will we evaluate our programs and services to ensure improved student learning? A copy of the plan submitted in September 2009 can be viewed by clicking the CSIP button on the right.

With the purpose of monitoring progress toward student learning goals, each district is required to form a school improvement advisory council. In Anamosa, we refer to this group as the Cadre. The members of the group include parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community representatives. The Cadre meets throughout the school year to study student achievement data and other information pertinent to the district. In the spring, recommendations regarding CSIP goals and action plans are made to the school board. Priorities established by the Cadre and approved by the School Board in May 2009 can be found be clicking the Cadre button on the right. In addition, meeting agendas and minutes can be accessed there as well.

Many reports must be submitted to the Department of Education each year, including the Adequate Yearly Progress Report (AYP) which was submitted in July 2009 and the Annual Progress Report (APR) which was submitted in September 2009. The AYP identifies whether we have achieved the student achievement goals that the state has set for us. The APR identifies whether we have achieved the goals we have set for ourselves. The most recent AYP and APR are available by clicking the buttons on the right.
