Professional Development
How is it impacting student achievement?
One aspect
of effective organizations is their ability to learn and improve on
the job skills. Research indicates that organizations with shared
leadership, clear focus, planned adult learning, collaboration
time, and monitoring of results have the best chance of improving
performance over time. The Anamosa Community school district is no
different in its efforts to provide effective staff development and
leadership opportunities to staff.
Monday night the school board heard Building Leadership Team
representatives from each building share their passion for teaching
and learning and the impact professional development is having on
student achievement. The presentations shown below evidence
the clear focus of Building Leadership Teams, the adult
learning that teams have adopted and are applying to the classrooms
and finally the results teams are seeing so far. Clearly the
“impact” of professional development has energized each
building.
The emphasis on collaboration, data teams, and proven or promising
practices to learn about and deliver instruction differently as the
adults in charge of learning is available for you to see in each
power point.
We thank these leaders for demonstrating that time spent at
professional development days/early dismissals has provided
staff with motivation, positive climate and improved learning. As
you view this data, feel free to contact each building principal
with questions or comments. Also know that from now until this fall
these leaders will propose next steps and plans mean
the future looks very promising for our students!
